Five Puddings for Diabetics

Getting a medical diagnosis of diabetes may be distressing to a person and their friends and family. It not only may cause trouble in a person’s long term future, it also usually involves a major transformation in their diet and lifestyle. If a diabetic is insulin-dependant or not, they have got to out of the blue pay a great deal more attention to just what, when, and exactly how much they take in.
Yet, in the end everybody adapts, and learns to live with their illness. The eating shift, however, can be a frequent reminder, certainly if a person has a sweet tooth or really looks forward to their puddings.
The great news is that diabetes doesn’t necessarily mean that no sweet food can ever be consumed ever again! You can get synthetically sweetened food selections, and also foods with naturally occurring sugar which are a lot less detrimental than refined sugar.
Five Sweet Ideas
Fruit Salad
Take 1 pear, 1 orange, a handful of strawberries, half a mango, a handful of grapes, and any other fruit you enjoy. Cut everything into little pieces, and put in a bowl. Stir in 3 tablespoons of natural yoghurt, and if you are craving chocolate, sprinkle some sugar-free hot chocolate powder over the top.
Jello Fruit
Chop an apple, half a cup of grapes, and 6 strawberries into bite-size pieces. Place in a bowl. Mix some sugar-free jello mix with boiling water, following the instructions on the packet. Pour over the fruit and leave to set. Eat on its own or with fresh fruit.
Fruity Frozen Yoghurt
Thaw a cup of frozen soft fruits (e. g. raspberries or peaches), place in a bowl, then crush with a fork. Stir in 4 cups of sugar-free yoghurt, either vanilla or natural. Add artificial sweetener - they all differ, so look on the packet to see what the equivalent to half a cup of sugar is, and use that - and stir it in. Place the mix into an ice-cream maker, and follow the instructions.
Cookies and Cream Milkshake
Put 1 1/4 cups of unflavoured, or vanilla flavour soya milk in a blender. Add 3 cups of low-sugar vanilla ice cream and blend until completely smooth. Add 8 crushed chocolate wafer cookies and do several short bursts using the pulse function on the blender. Serve immediately.
Applesauce Loaf Cake
Chop half a cup of walnuts and 1 cup of dates. Turn on the oven at 350 degrees to warm. In a bowl with the walnuts and dates, place:
3 cups flour
1 1/2 c. sugar substitute
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups applesauce, unsweetened
1 cups oil
4 eggs
1 cup raisins
Combine together well, using a wooden spoon. Pour into 2 ungreased 9 x 6 x 4 inch loaf pans. then bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Web Accessibility
Many people are prevented from fully participating in life online by websites which are badly designed for disabled people. Taking steps to make a website accessible is not that hard, and with the correct information and tools, people can make a start in ensuring that their own website is as accessible as possible to the highest number of people, including those who use screen readers, speech recognition software, and those who have limited vision, hearing and reading skills, as well as people who are colour blind or have learning disabilities.Posted on February 8, 2012 via Pearls of Wisdom from SA Pearl with 11 notes

Why "Retard" is a Hate Crime
It doesn’t happen often, but every once in a while I get confronted with a very ugly word.
“Retard”
It’s used a slang, as an insult. People know that it’s offensive, but they still use it. They seem to think “oh, it’s slang, it’s just a word, it doesn’t matter.” But you see, it does matter. Just because there isn’t a person with intellectual disabilities there, or apparent, doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter. Because connotations matter. The thought behind the word, it matters.
Let me show you how.(via sapearl)

Dentistry isn’t the obvious subject of comedy, but many comedians over the years have tackled it, and despite its propensity to leave grown adults trembling, they have done so with great success. There might even be some truth in the idea that starting to see it as comedic and humorous rather than terrifying could go some way to dispel the fear.
After watching all these video clips, you will find it hilarious when the dentist starts talking in code or gets out what looks, to most of us, like an offensive weapon, which has to be preferable to a panic attack.
You will find many examples, divided into categories of stand-up comedy, sketch show comedy, musical comedy and even ‘adult only’ comedy, all about dentists, dentistry, and being a dental patient on this website dedicated to comedy about dentists.
